Hi Gabriel, yes, of course. But you'll need to be coached/accompanied for the first 2 or 3 times. Then it should be fine. The procedure cannot be entirely guessed. Better see someone follow it, and apply it a few times yourself.

Hi Renaud,

Many thanks for the informative detail here.

I do not have any qualifications in QC. Will I still be able to get freelance work in China in this regard?

Regards

Thanks for the great post Renaud, it helped me a lot to understand at least in theory how to perform a QC Inspection. I'm sure this is not an easy task and it should be done by experienced professionals that can deliver an accurate result to the buyers, but I guess that your article is an excellent guideline for everyone who needs to perform a QC by itself and have no clue on how to start.

@ Orientix: very good remarks, thanks!
I tried to boil everything down to a few paragraphs, but I agree with you that these issues are among the most important.

As a sourcing agent the 1st thing to do = know your customer = if it is a chain with shops, go to the shops and look the presentation of the goods, talk to the shop owners, understand their problems. Many sales / sourcing people forget this completely. They even donot know their customer !

And very important issue nowadays is distribution. The products can be A1 fantastic, but barcodes are wrong, packing is not optimized, container loading is horrible. This creates huge problems at the distribution center at customer. Goods cannot go efficiently to shops. They start looking, they find issues -> sourcing agent gets claims on whatever they can find. Don't underestimate this !

Taking photos is good. But ALWAYS indicate proportion. No use to photo 1 big mistake which is in fact not representative to the lot. Take photo and explain on how many pieces checked, this mistake occurs.

>> I don’t have much to add to Andrew’s excellent article: How To Create A Product QC Checklist.
I also have not much to add. It is a good article.
